Question: Are you ready?!

Wednesday, April 16, 2014

I had to laugh when I actually decided to write this out. I was at the gym on my usual elliptical you know burning 1/4 of the calories I took in today away just to feel better and text messaging my long time high school friend...when we wondered off to how it seems everyone around us was getting jobs or busy doing something or just having their lives fall in place and it seemed like we were just pretty much here doing nothing. After bashing ourselves and talking about our own plans which are still to come to pass...the moment that followed was almost magical well atleast for me... and I looked in the mirror ahead of me and smiled. Now this does NOT happen. Usually after I realize everyone is on the prowl I hit myself hard and fall into this depression stage and ask God why it had to me of all children to let my parents' down or as my african people go talk abi 'disgrace' lol. but today was different..I looked in the mirror and smiled and just seem to realize that my time is coming until then I keep working and I keep praying.

A pastor once preached and said, " When preparation meets opportunity, great things happen". God knows i'm not mentally ready now for what awaits me out there. I believe I am still in this enclosed college shell..you know and not ready to face the world. I know I will meet my opportunity when I will be prepared and hence it will lead to a greater good because what good is it to me now to come across a huge opportunity and have no clue how to face it? It's like having the burger without the bun...makes no sense!

Do not look down on yourself when people around you seem to be putting all the pieces together. It's depressing I know lol trust me!  but their success does not hinder you in any way. Be happy for them, rejoice with them and learn from them. Keep working hard and doing your best in every single way and you too will have your spotlight. The fruits of your labor are not guaranteed to come tomorrow or the day after, you must remember, 'Rome was not built in one day' or shall I say, 'it takes six months to build a honda and three years to build a rolls royce.' And honey you are the Rolls Royce! Once you reach that goal, the steps will all make perfect sense.

Yesterday I wanted an easy life, a life where I will get up and everything will be easy breezy and beautiful (no not covergirl ;) ) but today I pray for the strength to endure a difficult one. Challenge yourself to be great! Remember, if you're the smartest one in the room, you're in the wrong room.

  1. One thing I have learned with time : Everybody has his own schedule !
We were all born at different places, different times;we all have different stories, and consequently different journey. And this is what make us.
Do never underestimate yourself because somebody else seems to go faster than you. There is something priceless in life : Experience. You will definitely end up stronger than those who had it "easy"...
And what I believe is the most important is : the only competition is the one with yourself. Our abilities and possibilities are limitless, by comparing yourself to others, you limit yourself to what they can accomplish.
By doing so you might never know what YOU CAN DO and live a life full of regrets,
Yeah, I know your article spoke to me :)
