Choices

Saturday, December 24, 2016

We are defined by the choices we make

There's a quote I've always been fascinated by which goes;

                                             You must make the choice
                                             To take the chance
If you want anything in life to change.

That speak volumes to me. However we turn out is based on our choices that we make everyday, who we become is based on these choices, our success based on our choices, our partners who reflect us? based on these same damn choices... The choices we make are critical! They're the core to we are or hope to be.

Smile!

Thursday, November 24, 2016

Use your smile to change the world,
don't let the world change your smile.

So if you've read this blog enough you know I always claim I don't how to smile. Now I laugh a whole lot, but I don't smile, at least not intentionally. Too many frustrations when someone trying to take a pic says; "smile". Got a sister lost and cheesing way too hard. That's not todays' gist tho. Today is about the comforting smiles, the people who don't let what they're going through refelct on the outside.

The 'WHY?'

Friday, September 16, 2016

                    Imperfectly perfect
                    With a wandering mind
                    Mediocre she refuses to be
                    Legendary she is.
Packed with flaws both physical and non
Yet she still WILL make a difference given the shot
Embracing who she is- she shares
with a world full of glares.
Beneath it all, the words and advice
Is only the power of feminine mind
Regardless of where she goes and who she is
You will first acknowledge that she is
                                Femme-Et-Noir [Woman and black]

Malta

Monday, June 20, 2016

Truth be told Malta is not a place I would have visited on my own but thanks to le sis graduating from there, I decided I might as well and I knew without a doubt it will be my first and last visit Lol! It was a nice experience don't get me wrong I just did and saw all that needed to be done and seen so no need to return.

Really brief geography y'all, not that I know much but Malta is Island close to Italy. Main languages are Maltese and English. End of lesson! (I hated geography). The country gave me the small town in Italy meets Greece vibe. Very different from anywhere I've ever been if i'm being honest. It was a good experience though! From the narrow streets ( If you can drive in Cameroon, you'll fit right in lol), to the rocky beaches and ancient buildings..It was a stunner in itself.

Londres

Friday, June 10, 2016

The last time I visited London was 10+ years ago, so I was over the moon to be visiting family and dear friends. Nothing beats that!

My trip was off to rough start with American airlines canceling my flight taking one day out of my already short vacation. So upon arrival I was ready to just go at it and do and see everything. Having visited "innit" when I was younger, if y'all have Mcdonald's I was a happy camper lol! Back when life was that simple. This time, however, I had a lot of appreciation for the architecture. The city has a nice vintage charm to it..for lack of words, it is very English! Second most important thing, London is tiny! The houses and roads are so small. It's almost just too cute and annoying at the same time lol. Plus on the roads, what are stop signs? yield signs? where they do that at? Driving is on another level. Tout le monde se comprend. I'll dive straight into the pictures and let them narrate my stay!

My first stop was Picadilly Circus, London's very own New York. It kind of has the times square vibe even though I was so caught up taking it in that I forgot to take a picture of the huge screens. Sorry guys!

Not that anyone uses these anymore but still a classic!

It takes a village!

There is a reason why my blog says; " A thing called life and a worried me". I stay being worried about Life! Recently I had a bad day like a really bad day. I don't remember having that bad a day maybe because this bad day made all the others in the past seem like a piece of cake. Almost like how you think 3 finals in a day is bad until you have to study for the MCAT and all of a sudden the finals seemed like a breeze...Not that I had to take the MCAT or anything LOL I've just heard stories.

Living Abundantly

"To live is the rarest thing in the world,
Most people just exist" -Oscar Wilde

Different

Sunday, April 17, 2016

                                In order to be irreplaceable,
One must always be different- Coco Chanel

It's very hard for us to see at times, but we are very different from each other. A difference we do not see until we are exposed to it. Until I packed up my bags and went to boarding school, I had no idea I was 'different'. To me, everyone talked the same, reacted the same etc. Like why would they be different from me? I'm awesome! *chuckles*. As soon as I got there, not even a year, I learnt I had a deeper voice than 'normal' (A difference I have grown to love), I found out I have some jumbo ears something which I later attributed to my dad. Hearing is on fleeeeek! Lol!  I learned people don't walk the same not because they're handicapped but because some people lean more on one foot than the other or lean forward and so on... You couldn't even hide that, our school sandals will tell any and every one the story. They definitely told me I had narrow feet with the smallest cutest toes Lol aka chinchin toes. Now the one I still hold against humanity. Our hair grows at different rates!!!!!!!!! I was 10 guys, bare with me. We had to have low cuts aka big chops but I noticed no matter how much pink oil (do people still use this? loved it) I used other peoples hair just grew faster right in front of my eyes. Till today, I will not tell you how many years I've been natural cause what I have achieved in years, my other natural chicas achieved in like 5 blinks. Amidst all that, I also learnt I am a people person! Something I later on banked on in school and life. I also learned I was organized with a dash of OCD. I still don't understand why people can't fold socks or underwear?? or just keep stuff organized. Completely blows my mind. Fast forward to college after meeting people from different regions, I was so convinced I was no where near normal. Like what is normal?

Blind

I happened to re-read Mayas' poem Take time out. The second stanza in particular caught my eye.
                                 "........Use a minute
                                       feel some sorrow
                                       for the folks
                                       who thinks tomorrow
                                       is a place that they
                                       can call up
                                       on the phone.
                                       take a month
                                       and show some kindness
                                       for the folks
                                       who thought that blindness
                                       was an illness that
                                       affected eyes alone..."

Steps

Friday, March 4, 2016

"The first step towards getting somewhere is to decide
that you are not going to stay where you are. "

Steps are the guides that lead us to the next point, the next step, the next level.  And somewhere in that lies the confusion of life (at least in my life). The bittersweet truth about steps is once you go up, there’s no going down and once up, the tasks only get harder. No wonder it’s so easy to go down the stairs than go up the stairs lol!

The blazer is fly..I know! I designed it!
